Windy Hill is heading to Woodside this week with 20 horses! It should be an exciting week of great competition!! There will be a potluck BBQ during the grand prix on Saturday evening. Everyone is invited! It should be really fun! While we are at the show our footing at home will be being redone! John Dienhart and his crew will be leveling the main arena and the school arena. He will be adding fiber to the dirt which should help hold water in the arena footing and make turning easier! While he is there he will also be connecting the two arenas in order to create a derby style arena! We will be able to ride from ring to ring. Eventually there will be a bank and hedge to allow riders to jump from arena to arena! John D will also level down below the two arenas (where there were once two round pens) This area will become a multi use area for lunging, lessons and turn outs. We cannot wait for this upcoming week!!!
Windy Hill had a highly successful show at Brookside this past week!!
Breezy and Michelle had a great time in their first show together! Talia and Erik won a .90 class! Emily was reserve champion in the .90 in her first show with QB. Pat and Elle won a cross rail class. Gillian and Callistro moved up to the 1.0m.
Chris and Camacho had a great time in the AA jumpers and Maeve and Bear were third in one of their 1.0m class. Natalie and Pepperoni were reserve champion in the pony jumpers! Maja was reserve champion on Don in the low hunters and finished 9th in the $10,000 hunter derby. Stephanie and Capri moved up to the 1.20m successfully. Maja and Rikki won the $10,000 grand prix of Brookside!
Bay Area Stable Windy Hill hosted a practice session for Stanford Equestrian Team who is gearing up for Zones. Warm up riders prepped the horses to allow the Stanford riders to get on and practice jumping a course "cold turkey". Laura, John and Maja talked to the riders about strategy, poise and some helpful hints for catch riding. All the riders did an amazing job! We were very impressed with their riding. We hope to have the team back to practice before Nationals! Good luck Stanford Equestrian Team at your upcoming competitions!! We wish you the best of luck!!!
Windy Hill Equestrian has added a new Bay Area riding lesson program. We teach adults and children as well as offer a great summer camp.
Twenty two horses and their people will be headed to palm springs to compete at the Hits Desert Circuit horse show!!! We would like to wish everyone the best of luck!!
Our world lost a true champion this morning. Quito's Son was one in a million horse. He truly loved his job and passed this passion for jumping on to his multiple riders throughout the years. His last ride was filled with jumping, bucking and playing at the ripe old age of twenty. We will all miss this wonderful sweet animal and we thank him for bringing us the joy and wonder of knowing an animal of his nature. Rest in peace Sunny. We will always love you
